Kathryn Sparks
Adjunct Faculty, Dance
Kathryn Sparks is a Minister of the Dance. She has danced and taught extensively in churches for the last twenty years, serving as a resource for congregations interested in exploring faith through embodied prayer, creative movement and dance. She and her students of all ages and backgrounds discover deepening relationship with God, integration of self, and a well of creativity through the lens of the body and particularly in worship. Kathryn is a graduate of Wesley, was an artist-in-residence, and founded the original Wesley Dancers. She has brought numerous dance artists to campus for community workshops and has produced concerts involving many students and staff. Kathryn is an ordained elder and deacon in the Presbyterian Church (USA) and is a member of The New York Avenue Presbyterian Church. She is an associate member of the Iona Community and a member of the Sacred Dance Guild. She draws strength from InterPlay® and plays regularly with the DC community. Kathryn is also a massage therapist and works on the clinical team at Body Dynamics, Inc. in Falls Church, VA.
